Timeless tradition meets contemporary cool. The mix of cultures and styles on the night of Sabrina and Scott’s wedding couldn’t have blended more seamlessly.
Like the perfect cocktail, the couple brought together elements of their past as well as their fun future together with a playlist that spanned the ages and genres.
Sabrina and Scott chose to start the party with upbeat jazz, which moved swiftly onto the contemporary hit Sugar from Maroon 5. This upbeat tune was used to introduce the wedding party and set a high standard for a night of revelry.
The couple clearly have a playful side and their choice of first dance song showed their deep affection but also understanding of each other. The lyrics of “Crazy Girl” by Eli Young Band speak for Sabrina and Scott’s love… “Crazy girl, don’t you know that I love you? And I wouldn’t dream of goin’ nowhere. Silly woman, come here, let me hold you. Have I told you lately? I love you like crazy, girl.”
Choosing a 1980s power ballad for their cake cutting showed the couples diverse love of music and Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like The Wind” set the guests up for the toasts and dinner.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Sabrina and her father Pete danced to Krystal Keith’s “Daddy Dance With Me”. Krystal Keith wrote this song as a surprise to her father, country music star Toby Keith, and performed it for the first time on her own wedding day and there couldn’t be a more appropriate song for the father-daughter dance.
The emotions continued to run high for Scott and his mum Kay’s dance to Celine Dion’s “Because You Loved Me” and everyone was more than happy to come together on the floor for a traditional Albanian Dance.
Traditions and old family cultures were observed by all before the fun started for the evening.
The mix of styles at this wedding was apparent with the move from classic to contemporary as the bouquet toss, an old tradition, was completed to popstar Meghan Trainor’s “Dear Future Husband. Throwing in a dancefloor filler from R.Kelly with Ignition (Remix) for the garter toss and it was clear that Sabrina and Scott wanted to amp up the guests and get the party started.
This is the moment in an evening that I love. Guests have been primed with carefully selected tunes and are ready to party. And I was able to keep the party going with a ix of guest requests and high energy songs from across the genres.
Romantic, eclectic, traditional and modern all came together on Scott and Sabrina’s day and their last dance choice of Michael Bublé’s version of the Drifters classic – Save the Last Dance for me reflected this wonderful mix.
